And this 375-square-foot, one-bedroom rental marks her fifth New York City apartment in the last seven and a half years.

Gail starts off by saying, ‘I’ve always felt it’s essential to cherish your surroundings while you’re in them and craft a place that genuinely embodies what it means to have a true home.’ She continues, ‘Whenever I cross the threshold into my house, I’m embraced by an environment that reflects all the care and personal touches I’ve added over time. This is where I can completely unwind and just be myself.’ Her wish is that anyone who visits—be they friends or relatives (as she really enjoys having company)—will experience this sense of comfort too.’

Gail mentions that she maintains both fresh blooms and vinyl records on a rotating basis. Sometimes she consults her Magic 8 Ball for guidance, and at other times, she makes stovetop popcorn (even though she has a microwave) as she believes the taste is far better. She prides herself on being considerate, meticulous, and inventive, and hopes these traits shine through in her living space.

Since Gail’s house seems more spacious than its 375 square feet suggests, she evidently excels at crafting compact areas. She recommends mounting curtains higher up than usual for this purpose. As she explains, doing so maximizes the available area and creates an illusion of greater size within the room.

She recommends installing mirrors in dimly lit spots to enhance the sense of openness. She adds, “Don’t hesitate to use various hues—just ensure they complement each other.” Lastly, Gail advises tidying up progressively: “By consistently returning items to where they belong, your living area will stay neat and free from accumulating mess.”
