The rivalry between Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Brunson made a brief appearance in the wrestling ring last year. Now, as they gear up for potentially four to seven matchups on the hardwood at Madison Square Garden and Gainbridge Fieldhouse, WWE is jumping back into the fray.
In the Eastern Conference Finals, Brunson’s New York Knicks will face off against Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers. The victor from this matchup will then go on to compete against either the Minnesota Timberwolves or the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
Last summer, though, things escalated when the pair brought brass knuckles and a steel chair into play. On the June 28 episode of SmackDown at Madison Square Garden – both Brunson’s local arena and WWE’s iconic venue – Haliburton aligned himself with Logan Paul, while Brunson supported LA Knight.
As the Eastern Conference Finals rapidly approach, WWE has released official merchandise featuring each player. This allows fans to choose their allegiance (assuming they aren’t already die-hard Knicks or Pacers supporters, of course).
Before the start of game one on Wednesday,
Josh Hart, the Knicks’ shooting guard, disclosed

Hart mentioned that WWE comes up with an excellent storyline,” he stated. “As a result, many wrestlers will likely aim to join WWE during the upcoming summer season.
Following Hart’s remarks, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H commented on his social media with this statement: “Since last Friday my phone has not stopped ringing. #SummerSlam is heading to @MetLifeStadium in August…”
