This beloved flora has come back to life once more.
After
Last year’s amazing Washington D.C. exhibition of the corpse flower
—where two of these
rare flowers
The blooms occurred nearly simultaneously—the gardeners and tourists have all been eagerly anticipating seeing when and where the subsequent corpse flowers will emerge in 2025.
The
Missouri Botanical Garden
is set to enchant its visitors with a
new bloom
anticipated to open at any moment, the garden expects its corpse flower, dubbed Lucy, to bloom anytime from May 29 to June 3.

Apart from its remarkable dimensions and vivid hue, the odor of the corpse flower is what lures numerous visitors to witness it firsthand, though it isn’t particularly agreeable. The strong aroma reminiscent of “decaying meat” peaks on the initial day of blooming, drawing various pollinators from considerable distances.
How to Meet Lucy Bloom Personally
At the Missouri Botanical Garden, you can view Lucy inside the Garden’s Climatron conservatory. After it blossoms, stop by during normal operating hours to witness this spectacle—note that regular garden entry fees apply. The site suggests purchasing your tickets ahead of time as well; a general ticket for the same day will cost you $16. Residents of St. Louis City and county qualify for reduced rates, and the gardens have extended hours from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day.
Corpse flowers require seven years before they bloom for the first time, and subsequently, they will reflower every two to three years. Witnessing acorpse flower in person is quite uncommon, particularly because these blooms are
considered endangered
, with less than 1,000 corpse flowers remaining in their natural habitat.
If you have no intention of
