New York appears unable to shake off accusations of being “too pricey.”

I checked out an apartment during my search for a new place. Fortunately, a journalist and media personality provided a virtual tour of a $7,000 apartment through TikTok and alerted their followers about the absurd housing conditions in New York City.

Speedy mentioned that the two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartment was beyond his budget, but he demonstrated what one could get for “seven thousand American dollar bills” in New York City.

He began with the apartment’s unimpressive kitchen, featuring old-fashioned floor tiles and a white gas stove along with a matching fridge. “Let me tell you, what we’ve got here is quite the showstopper in terms of kitchens,” Speedy quipped.

He mentioned that the laundry area seemed as though it were “from the time of the Revolutionary War.” The living room featured nothing more than a simple shelved closet. “Just so you know, my camera view is at a bit of an angle,” explained Speedy.

Speedy acknowledged that the bedroom was “spacious enough” and the bathroom was “pleasant,” yet he felt $7,000 was too much. He quipped about seeing snacks in the building, adding with a laugh referring to his reflection in the bathroom mirror, “but those aren’t part of the deal.” “Seriously though, can’t make it work,” Speedy concluded.

The commentators were equally perplexed. One individual opined, “We should begin with interviews of landlords… It’s essential to spot the greed early on.”

Speedy is obviously moving on to his subsequent apartment viewing, however, those interested in residing in the Big Apple should anticipate
