(FOX40.com) – According to the City of Sacramento, they have included approximately 250 additional plant species in their “preferred plants” list.
The additions from the city’s water conservation team have increased the overall count to approximately 830 items.

“This compilation aims to simplify the process for individuals selecting plants and trees approved by the City for grass replacement initiatives,” stated William Granger, who serves as the City’s water conservation coordinator.
The city created an interactive dashboard for the interested gardeners and landscapers that allows users to filter by a number of categories, including water requirements and whether the plant is native to California.
Those eligible can use the plants on the list to create “drought-resistant landscapes” and claim up to
$3000 in refunds from the city

The city webpage for the rebate program notes that projects must be approved by the city before they begin in order to be eligible for the rebate.
