On Monday, Sotos Ktoris, who serves as one of the chairmen for the bicommunal technical committee focused on cultural heritage, made a statement.

He mentioned that the church, situated close to Kyrenia’s ancient port, originates from the Frankish era in Cyprus. Over several centuries, numerous refurbishments have taken place; among these, the most “notable” occurred in 1783.

The renovation project

Was funded partly by the European Union and partially by individuals from Kyrenia.

and carried out with the technical oversight of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Ktoris stated that the contributions from individuals in Kyrenia were “crucially significant,” noting that the local community had “supported with respect and affection the endeavor to preserve an important monument of Kyrenia.”
