Over 100 gardeners join local plant swap to exchange seeds and plants in Ohio

BELMONT COUNTY, OH (WTRF) – Over 100 area gardeners were in Belmont County for their annual Master Gardener Plant Swap at the Belmont County Fairgrounds.

This is the season when everybody rushes to plant their seeds and seedlings, and during this occasion, folks can pick out their preferred plants or seeds—free of charge.

Anyone could join, provided they brought additional seeds, veggie seedlings, indoor plants, flower bulbs, yearly blooms, bushes, or even larger flora.

The people that come, however many plants they bring, they go home with something different. So, it’s a one for one plant swap free, free to the community. It’s just a lot of fun to get spring started, get some new things, get out, just meet the community, have a good time, and it’s just a good event to bring people together.”

They included perennials, annuals, herbs, and vegetables, along with indoor plants. Groups were summoned one after another, with each having a window of three minutes to choose their items.

Despite the unpredictable weather conditions, they managed to attract a substantial crowd.
