Working with difficult customers can test contractors more than the actual work at hand.
A single lawn technician arrived to address the pipe issue; however, the customer became agitated.
karma hitched a ride
on his hood.

Scolded for Performing the Task I Was Employed For
This occurred roughly 20 years ago, around the time I began my career as a lawn irrigation technician.
I was summoned to address a leak in the customer’s front lawn.
The contractor informed the client beforehand that the service would be intrusive.
I informed her beforehand that this task would involve significant excavation and might ruin her lawn.
She went out temporarily to take care of some tasks.
However, she seemed not to hear a single word the technician spoke.
Once she returned, I had dug up the damaged pipe, resulting in a 3 feet by 1 foot hole in her front yard.
I was busy fixing the pipe when she approached, yelling at me because I had dug up her lawn.
She wouldn’t consider rational arguments.
Right now, I usually excel at calming down scenarios such as these, but every approach I attempted failed with this woman who seemed straight out of a nightmare.
Despite multiple efforts to convey the importance of excavating a trench to repair the subsurface piping, she instructed me to depart.
He complied, but it turned out this termagant had overlooked something quite crucial.
So, I gathered my tools, tossed them into the bed of my pickup, and climbed inside.
She burst into the house and crashed the door shut behind her.
When I began to retreat, I saw that in her rush to scold me for performing the task she had employed me for, she had left her handbag and car keys atop my pickup truck.
It seems she isn’t going to see her possessions for a while now.
I slowly reversed out of the driveway and then drove the two and a half blocks to reach the highway entrance ramp.
They eventually removed the hood approximately 5 miles further along the route.
I never received another update from that customer, but I often pondered whether she eventually located her lost purse and keys.
It was a minor triumph, yet a triumph all the same.
How did Reddit respond?
It appears that common sense is increasingly scarce these days.
Certain customers have utterly no understanding of the work involved in the tasks they hire for.
It’s time to launch a quest for that missing purse!
This customer may have grasped a lesson regarding their rudeness towards contractors… but likely didn’t.
In either case, he achieved his small vengeance, which was sufficient for him.
