Annual Parade of Homes: Where Window Shoppers Meet Serious Buyers

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) — Approximately 40 newly constructed houses throughout southern Indiana are being showcased this week as part of the yearly Southwestern Indiana Builders Association Parade of Homes event.

With the start of the bustling home purchasing season, real estate agents report that the housing market is reverting to its state before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Local agents say it’s the optimal period for buyers since the start of the pandemic.

“We have many individuals who are eager to see the latest designs; they wish to stroll through the houses, and also look forward to meeting the constructors,” explains Grant Waldroup, a broker associate at FC Tucker Emge.

Waldroup indicates that at present, sales have increased somewhat in the real estate market compared to the previous year.

“He mentions that they emerged from winter with better weather, and it was clear the market was certainly rising and becoming more bustling.”

Even though it remains a seller’s market, Waldroup indicates that circumstances are getting better for potential buyers.

“The inventory remains lower than required, making it advantageous for sellers to list their homes at present; however, buyers also benefit slightly as there is marginally more stock available compared to last year,” he clarifies.

Many people attending the 38 homes featured in this year’s parade aren’t interested in taking out a mortgage.

“I believe it’s folks who are somewhat intrigued, much like myself…” stated parade attendee Misty Bullington.

Sam Kinnaman stated, “We usually opt for the high-end options.” He added, “I informed my spouse to search for properties around $2 million, and then we can proceed accordingly.”

The recently repainted and redecorated houses, according to the family, provide excellent motivation for home renovation projects.

The accent wall they featured was like a deep blue naval ship lap siding, which looked fantastic,” remembers Hannah Kinnaman about one of her cherished houses. “It’s an effortless addition that brings a very elegant touch.

Although home purchases have slowed down due to the pandemic, local developers at Fee Construction report that individuals are still seeking ways to enhance their living spaces.

When it comes to remodeling projects, they show no signs of slowing down. Clearly, when we consider the overall economic situation, things appear somewhat sluggish,” stated Adam Gann, Vice President at Fee Construction. “Let’s hope this changes soon so we begin seeing an increase in home purchases.

The home tour event continues until Sunday. You can check out the times for the open houses by paying a visit.
